Sony is Like Saddam Hussein

December 31st 2006 15:37
Saddam Demonstrating his WMD to the world
'My WMD is both big and expensive
It’s all over the place, Sony stuffed up with the Playstation 3 here Sony stuffed up with the Playstation 3 there, naturally everything is filled with hate. But why? Nintendo stuffed up, so did Microsoft, Nintendo released a console with very old graphical horsepower for an inflated price to make profits per console sold, Microsoft rushed their console out and now are planning on releasing improved Xbox 360 units among other things.

Truth is Nintendo and Microsoft have stuffed up a bit too, but why don’t we try to eat at their throats? Because Sony deserves it. Sony is arrogant, obnoxious self righteous, Sony is Saddam Hussein, completely oblivious to the world around him thinking he’s still the dictator of an oppressed people despite failing, continually failing and falling into obscure history.

What is different between Sony and the competition? The difference is that Sony is arrogant, uptight self righteous.

Clear as day, from the E3 presentation where between Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony only Sony started the conference with an extremely long monologue of how great they are (namely the Playstation 2) and how they will continue being so great. Both Nintendo and Microsoft started humbly and made their points clear, they were here for the games.

Saddam demonstrating how a PSP will ignitet he end of the world via his ps3
'With this Remote I shall Trigger the WMD!
Then comes Sony with their wonderful PR quotes, "rumble was last generation, movement is this generation" in reference to the lack of rumble in SIXAXIS, this despite gamers demanding rumble and Hideo Kojima himself stating that he missed rumble.

Like it wasn’t bad enough for the Playstation 3 to cost $600 Ken Kutaragi had the nerves to say the Playstation 3 was ‘too cheap’, this on top of another statement made by another Sony executive saying that the $500 Xbox 360 and $250 Wii are ‘too expensive’.

Then comes the website ‘alliwantforxmasisapsp.com’ which ran deep into the heart of the gaming community who took offence that Sony considered them that dumb to fall for such a cheap marketing trick.

If all this isn’t enough Sony still has the nerves to take direct pot shots at their (supposedly non-existent) competitors, claiming the Nintendo Wii to be a novelty and the Xbox 360 being more of an Xbox 1.5.

Believe me I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface here, Sony has been overwhelmingly arrogant as of late and it has started backfiring.

People don’t forgive the Playstation 3’s shortcomings anymore, they forgive the loud Xbox 360 and the outdated graphics of the Wii but they don’t forgive the expensive Playstation 3, people forgave the Xbox 360 for its somewhat lacklustre launch line up but they aren’t forgiving the Playstation 3 for it.

Kaz Hirai after getting the death sentence, seconds from hanging
Hang ten dude
People forgive Nintendo for porting over a last generation game with tacked on controls but they don’t forgive the Playstation 3’s shoddy graphics in games like ‘Gundam: Crossfire’.

There are a lot more examples, but these should be enough.

Not surprisingly after Sony remains amazingly ignorant to what’s going on around, from getting annoyed at being asked difficult to answer questions to not doing anything about failing interest in the Playstation 3 and assuming it will all fall into place simply because they are selling the Playstation 3.

Sony won’t ever come out of this stupid arrogance, like Saddam, they’ll be standing there with the rope around their necks and they won’t know how badly beaten they are until the floor beneath them drops. Only it will be too late by then.

Monkey Lander

December 31st 2006 04:03
The popular ATARI game 'Lunar Lander' has been given a comedic make over in 'Monkey Lander'.

Just like in 'Lunar Lander' the player is tasked to land a lunar module in a designated location but it comes with a few twists.

You're a monkey piloting a space ship and your primary objective is to collect all the banans after which you are given the all clear to land. I think that pretty much said it all really. Go play the game.

GT:HD Photorealism?

Well not really but close, my best guess is the Playstation 5 will showcase photorealistic graphics.

Some guy decided to take photographs of the Gran Turismo: HD demo in action and compared them to real life shots

The censored article
Ironic just a few years ago it wouldn’t have been possible to find out that the White House had censored one of Time magazines articles.

There has been lots of censorship of the USA’s critics in Iran, a scary lot, almost like some ones testing the public to see what the reaction to censorship is in this specific area

Top Ten Good Guys of Videogames 2006

December 23rd 2006 16:19
All contestants have featured in a game that was released in 2006 and have featured in games that have actually made some critical and commercial success so sadly we won’t be seeing Master Chief on these lists.

It is strange who came out number one, I can’t say if it is coincidence or destiny... who knows? Suffice to say number one is kind of a surprise twist that makes you think 'gee I should have seen that cheap shot coming

A piece worthy of being kept for future generations to just understand what a great man Bill Gates was and just exactly what he contributed to the world of technology

Pointlessly Fun Game

December 23rd 2006 09:43
People often claim the internets only real purpose is to be a high-speed porn exchange network... and in a sense that's true.

However one must look at the internet in its broadest sense, it in fact is simply a data exchange network that has been exploited badly in a myriad of different ways, one way is to (admittedly) get easy access to pornography. However another aspect of it (which is just as important) is to mess around and waste time

I don’t know what the equivalent to crucifying a video game console or any electronic brand would be but when they come few and far in between and lack demand you can expect the internet to come up with many and varied examples of it being crucified.

Woot.com has found a particularly creative and excessively insulting way, the picture speaks for itself

The reason behind this oddity is the positioning of the flash, given it is mounted above the lens it creates slight shadows when bouncing off the subjects face making blemishes and wrinkles more apparent

iPhone
iPhone mock-up
The iPhone is a hybrid of an iPod and mobile phone, sticking true to Apple’s iPod philosophy it uses older but more stable tech. For instance rather than 3G it is rumoured to be using 2.5G so the component sizes are smaller and the system will be more efficient.

Unlike other newer mobile phones in my opinion the iPhone should NOT have a camera, if it does it will not be inline with Apple’s marketing style for the iPod where simplicity and music rocks

Webcomics: Comic Strips, ONLINE!

December 16th 2006 12:30
Well if you don’t already, I highly recommend you find one you like and start reading it. Often times the comical ones are great stress relievers, especially the ones where you see idiots screwing up, you think to yourself, ‘geez, that guys an idiot’, and suddenly you feel better (is it magic?).

While you might be thinking most webcomics are targeted at people who are technologically inclined, or people (such as myself) who are looking for a quick laugh you are quite mistaken. Though some of the popular ones are related to games for instance (Ctrl-Alt-Del, Penny-Arcade, VGCats etc), there are tons of genres, from classic ‘American Style’ to CGI/3D strips

But HD-DVD has all the Cool Movies...

December 14th 2006 14:35
Historically speaking it is always the technologically inferior format that has won out. Take the VHS VS Betamax, VHS claimed victory despite Betamax being superior in just about everyway imaginable from a technological standpoint. It had better picture quality; the tapes were smaller, it also was the tape for the first portable video recorder.

Torn between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, the bunny must choose
Yet VHS won out, why? Well because the porn industry kind of decided to back it up... but that's besides the point here. I mean sure, Hollywood movie this or that, but the Porn industry is way too huge, and produces far more movies than ‘mainstream’ Hollywood, so that decision was probably the deciding factor

Sony Cops a Whopper

Sony, particularly SCE has a habit of inane advertising that makes no sense. From crazy nonsensical TV advertisements for the Playstation 3 to potentially racist billboard ads (I don’t agree, seems to be too much reading *into* here), Sony has it all.
