3D Virtual TV

March 31st 2007 02:12
I'm a luddite in that I don't see how this can at all be used except for in video games, in movies it might be a little bit too redundant, but to each his own,

The best (read: only) way someone can utilize this technology is through pure CGI, unless they have a billion camera's they could use.

Other obvious places this could be used in is design and modelling, seeing things in real life three dimensions is obviously a really cool thinking. Nintendo has been hinting at utilizing such technology for their next-gen platform, though they never said which generation and they never said if this was what they were talking about. My bet is that they were.

Animated Cursor = Vista's Suicide?

March 31st 2007 01:32
Isn't it amazing when an operating system is so secure that the only way to make it vulnerable would be through deliberate tampering with the system by the end user, from the article,

However, despite these mitigations, Windows Vista is very much vulnerable to attacks. In the video embedded at the bottom, you will be able to see Craig Schmugar, virus research manager with McAfee, send Windows Vista into a perpetual "crash-restart" loop by simply dragging a malformed .ani file to the operating system's desktop.

The video in question,

So pending users who like dragging around .ani files your computer will be 'exposed' to a 'deadly' virus that will force your ever precious PC to reset. Wow. Of course the virus writer could make something more deadly, though I think Vista would catch it, the above 'virus' is no more than a piece of malware that runs your system to the ground.

Rupert Murdoch wants ADSL2 in Australia, why? To push his gambling websites further home, also to push his media empire into the 21st century.

To do that Mr. Murdoch needs to have Australia's internet brought over to 2007, John Howard isn't willing to pay, but rather he'd change laws to make it possible, Mr. Murdoch wants it free, Kevin Rudd jumps into bed with him and offers five billion dollars taken right out of government workers retirement fund.

Andrew Boltz is Mr. Murdoch's right hand man, begins to speak up Kevin Rudd, why? To get him elected.

Don't you just hate it when politics and technology gets too close?

I finally have learned sympathy for tech writers, the real deal full blown tech writers. Also I have learned to envy them even more.

Why? Because for a day and a half I was one of them, no, I was one of the best of them, I came out of nowhere and for that day and a half I was (probably) the number one tech writer in Australia

Anti-Rape Device My Sweet *cough*

March 22nd 2007 10:32
I hate feminist activists, they have no idea what they are going on about, ever. They claim they want equal treatment but are so vague on the terms they themselves don’t know how to say it equal or not.

So one particularly resourceful devil woman (I shall call her that) has invented an ‘anti-rape’ device. Of course in her little ideal world men are idiots and they won’t look before diving in deep

Six Million, Yet I’m Still at Zero

March 22nd 2007 01:53
I expect the demand for the Wii to stay this crazy for at least another twelve months, despite selling a record six million thusfar. It seems like the rabid fanboys are too many, literally can’t find any, the fact it has sold six million in this period of time is nothing short of bloody well annoying for folks like me who do not want to pay a premium to buy it off of eBay.

The success of the Wii is nothing short of darn well annoying. What’s worse is it looks like this sell-out hype behind the Wii is going to continue for a few more million unit shipments. I just wonder when the big guns start coming down the pipe, big guns from the Super Mario franchise or Metriod or Final Fantasy or any number of top secret titles that are in development for the Wii… what then? Will we go back to sell-out hype all over again? Honestly that would kind of suck for me as a person who wants one eventually.

Just Get to Know Me… Please?

March 19th 2007 04:41
What’s really scary is I actually agree with him in some parts of what he’s saying, I guess were both geeks in the end. Wether or not I agree I know that this just has to be fake, I don’t understand how people like this guy can exist.

Sure he’s got the whole romantic relationship thing covered, what women claim to love in a guy but hate when it is shown off, that is enjoying each other as people rather than being showered with gifts and… some other stuff

I’ve had a terrible week, terrible in every way, a not so fun time on Orble, this is partly due to what seems like lack lustre reading material and a particular blog post that has turned into a particularly annoying IM-esque conversation despite my best attempts to turn it into a flame war. Haven't had much of a fun time at university and I sure as hell got no uni work done at all this week… almost anyway, I’m fairly far behind where I want to be and am pretty disappointed with myself as such.

Some other things include being pushed around by a paranoid delusional maniac and his friend who have been claiming I am multiple people on a single online forum. Believe you me that is more frustrating than anyone can imagine, being accused of having multiple accounts one of whom is a respected figure and another being the exact opposite in an online community, also, I haven’t been updating techy.Bytes as much as I should be. I’m still not sure that’s because there is nothing interesting to update with or that I have no desire to do so

Vista Not High End Gaming Ready Yet

March 14th 2007 14:01
As cool as Vista is (yes I said it's cool) it simply isn't ready for high end gaming, not Microsoft's fault, just that third party hardware manufacturers haven't been making good with the drivers. We have this really strange situation with Windows Vista, while middle range computers and even low end computers can run it, high end computers actually can't.

Dell is smarter than to pre-install Vista on a high end PC, everyone else should be just as smart

Celebrity Look Alikes

March 13th 2007 15:02
MyHeritage has this awesomely cool little toyish kind of software that matches up your face with celebrities, pretty cool, but given it thought I was a woman three or four times over (despite being painfully male) I think either 1950’s celebrity women are too manly looking or the software is just not good enough.

Actually it correctly guessed the faces of celebrities 60% of the time, so it can with a reasonable accuracy measure you up against a real life celebrities, it compared me to Ben Stiller in one and Andy Rodick in another shot

Back during the days of Windows XP you'd have to get an elaborate piece of software that would take screenshots from video's in individual frames since the PrtScn key didn't catch the screen for video's playing on almost all media players.

However with Vista that seems to be a thing of the past

So here I go with politics, the politics of war, blog war to be exact, watch as I foolishly try to get into a blog war with Orbles most beloved member (other than yours truly), Cibbuano

Everyone knew this would happen one day, but it sure happened sooner than I expected. The mechanical arm was Invented by Dean Kamen, who has also created the iBOT. He claims to be 'married to his inventions' and as such is not married to a woman. Sorry ladies.

This robotic arm is probably the coolest thing he's ever come up with

Will the Sequel *be* the exclusive?
What makes an exclusive? Lots of money. If a title releases on a single console it will have a smaller install base, the idea is that the console manufacturer will subsidize the developer for lost sales if it were multiplatform.

With the small install base of the Playstation 3 it is apparent that Sony will have to make huge payouts for exclusive titles, such as the case in Resistance Fall of Man where 30 million dollars was invested in Insomniac to develop the game for the Playstation 3

My Murder Weapon is My Book

March 8th 2007 16:52
I almost can't believe I have to get my sorry rear end through all these books in the next four months, thank god I don't have to! Almost. The book down bottom, I only have to get through half of it by mid year exams and everything on top? Yeah I have to read through them all.

Of course they don't include my other math stuff which adds about another five hundred pages to the whole thing

Playstation Home

March 8th 2007 13:02
Playstation Home is no more than an over glorified matchmaking lobby with a simplistic ‘Sims’ element tacked on to boot. I can’t find the target audience, it may be a brief diversion for some Playstation 3 uses for so long but as it stands I don’t see it lasting long term.

However Sony might have a few tricks up its sleave and we may very well see this be the next big thing in online gaming. I do think it’s cool, but the target audience is missed by a few miles
