Blogging for most is about finding interesting news in and around the web, bringing it back to your blog, posting your opinion on it and linking to the article. Of course you can add a spin on it but there is a limit where you take a story out of context, warp it to your own views then claim innocence when someone actually reads the article. Thats what conservatives (bloggers?) do, and thats what this one did.

Linking to an article and claiming it is what (in a satirical manner) is tarnishing the image of Islam, apparently implying thats what the article he is linking to is trying to get across. Of course he claims he didn't write it hence claims all immunity, perhaps I'll link to an article about dandy lions being the reason for AIDS when it's only about dandy lions causing allergies then claim innocence that I'm just the messenger, of course thats another story entirely.

The article has nothing to do with politics as he desperately is trying to spin it, this is actually a problem with tribalism and culture mixing too deeply into Islam, it's quite a common problem for all religions (Christianity has changed quite considerably to accommodate pagan faith) but Islam gets the hardest whacked for it when some random dude circumcises his daughter - not acceptable in Islam but some folks take such stories as fact that over a billion people believe.

Now, a rational look at the article:

The conference "aims to expose erroneous ideas, correct misunderstandings and raise awareness about the (dangers) of sorcery and charlatanism," Kaabi said, warning that "charlatans seek to defraud the naive and superstitious."

So where is it that the conference is trying to end all misconceptions against Muslims? The conference is about Muslims who have misconceptions about their own faith due to their culturally and perhaps politically broken upbringings, while I don't know how credible the conference will be and if it has any political overtone of itself it still has nothing to do with what the 'messenger' claims.

The herbal remedy predates Islam and has been administered in the Middle East since the time of the Egyptian pharaohs. The Prophet Mohammed is said to have declared that "black cumin heals every disease except for death."

Heh, no he never said that, it isn't in Hadeeth (or at least not in the Hadeeths that are known to be accurate and not made up/corrupted). If a Muslim believes that then he/she is mistaken.

Many Muslims believe the Koran can cure illness. The most common treatment consists of drinking water with pieces of paper bearing Koranic verses dissolved in it.

Yep, thats true many do believe that, but that belief is completely inaccurate, God himself has said that faith while involving belief only involves that because it is based on grounded hard facts. Which is to say that there are no miracle cures and Islam is very much against such things, in fact it is regarded as a deadly sin to claim that the Quran can cure people or anything like that, Islam eradicated magic, astrology and superstitions and made all those sin (some people might interpret that as culture destroying though in all honesty making it illegal to claim to have magical powers and earn money from it is something I absolutely approve of).

In December 2006, a top Malaysian university published a report claiming that the postures used during Muslim prayers benefit the heart and spine, while increasing the capacity for memory and attention.

Why am I not surprised it was a *Malaysian* university, I dislike the idea of designating but Malaysian culture really does intrude with proper Islamic teachings significantly which is what creates their misconceptions behind Islam. Malaysian culture is just too spiritual which is why Muslims brought up in Malaysia tend to have these fantastic ideas, obviously they shouldn't, Islam is a solid religion based on facts, not such 'miracles' and looking for such things is what causes problems to begin with, as you can see they are making a conference to address these issues.

Abdullah, who champions a moderate form of Islam called Islam Hadhari, has been encouraging Muslims worldwide to give equal importance to education, science, technology and development alongside the spiritual aspects of the religion.

Adbullah is the product of a people who are mistaking radical politics in the Middle East as the kind of Islam that was created 1400 years ago which needs to be updated. Islamically it is heavily recommenced that you get a good education, learning about the world around you, including technology and all that is an integral part of your faith. The spiritual aspect of Islam (if you would like to call it that) is so deeply interwoven with science (read: facts) you could say it's the same thing. The line gets blurred between the two all the time, you can say they are the same thing, even Mohammed said that it should be every Muslims duty to get an education (not his words) because God created the earth for us to live in it and make the most of it.

To answer the question of what is soiling the image of Islam, the same thing that soiled the image of Judaism back in the Nazi days, a (very) few assholes claiming to be of the religion join 'struggles' in the 'name' of the religion and kill innocent people, a few people who always had this hatred of this religious group use the few assholes as a brush to tar the entire faith as such.

Guess what? Jews in communist parties killed 20 million people in Europe, but I doubt any Jew will accept those communist party members as part of their faith, just the same you won't find many (if any) Muslims who accept murderurs as part of their faith and neither will they accept these people are acting in accordance ot their faith.

But hey, if a conservative wants to say he/she knows more abotu my religion than me and that I should be this murduring nut bag then he/she really needs to get a life, take some much needed self evaluation and stop with the undue hate.

He/she should also stop blogging, Shelley the Republican pretty much sums you all up

Nah just kidding, everyone has a right to express their views (no matter how dumb), even if their views (looks at certain *conservative* bloggers) involve deporting people they disagree with.

They are always bred as such, you never get someone who's 30 who decides to be a conservative, ever. I know someone will point out such and such exception but whoever this exception might be is also a moron and has been bred as such.

What I'll never understand is how someone can compare Bill Clinton lying about getting a Blow Job to George Bush lying about Iraq having WMDs capable of being launched within 45 minutes at the 'developed' west and going to a war which costs over a trillion dollars to a nation already in heaby debt.

What I'll never understand is how a conservative will say Bill Clinton was a bad president because he wanted sex, despite the fact he presided over the longest economic expansion in US history, what I'll never understand is how a conservative thinks thats crap and thinks George Bush is the better president for presiding over the most ill conceived war in human history.

What I'll never understand is how a conservative can say marijuana should be banned and alcohols should remain legal when in fact alcohol is what destroys lives far worse than marijuana could ever, alcohol damages the body worse then marijuana could ever in fact marijuana is no more than a gateway drug, its affects are far less deadly than alcohol.

What I'll never understand is how a conservative can claim faster internet is only good for kids watching porn and playing games.

What I'll never understand is a conservative who claims the only way we can have our freedom is by taking away said freedom.

What I'll never understand is a conservative who claims torturing one person is good because it will keep fifty terrorists in jail and save 20,000 lives, with no reality check, just empty threat.

What I'll never understand is how conservatives justify high spending on war to keep Americans safe when 18,000 people a year die in the US as a direct result due to a lack of health insurance due to budget cuts being spent on a war to prevent another terrorist attack that will probably never happen within the next five years which may or may not kill 3000 people.

What I'll never understand is how a conservative has the ability to claim imminent terrorist threats after the past 6 years and still expect to be treated seriously.

What I'll never understand is how next to Muslims conservatives blame liberals for the worlds problems.

What I'll never understand is how conservatives blame religions that aren't evangelical Christians for the worlds problems yet turn a blind eye to the fact it's politics, namely their politics, that created the worlds problems to begin with, yet they go and blame liberals for those.

What I'll never understand is how conservatives think everyone should 'integrate' into society, and when they do integrate, claim the integration isn't enough, because 'integrate' in their mind is being a white evangelical Christian.

Oh wait, I can understand it all, conservatives are morons, plain and simple.

There is never a need to go 'in depth', with conservatives it's just the same reason over and over again, they are inherent morons, or at least the ones representing conservatives are, perhaps I am being evil here because I am talking about the far right and there are good people who happen to be conservative too, but as it stands, these conservatives are running the show like how rotten eggs take up the smell in a kitchen.

Being a Geek Sucks

April 26th 2007 15:07
Let me just get one thing straight, theres a difference between being a geek and being a hobbyist, if you're interested in movies or even 'Dungeons and Dragons' you're cool, if you're unhealthily obsessed then you're a geek, you're unsocial, you're pathetic.

There is no positive for being a geek no matter how you spin it

Woo - First Game

April 26th 2007 08:41
I figure so long as I'm going to be doing something I'm going to be doing it as best as I can, to the last breath sort of thing. Sure I could just rip off some 2D API mash it together like spaghetti and call that my 'game engine' and throw in a bunch of 2D sprites and say 'woo, go me!', I figure I may as well get straight to the fun stuff, the 3D stuff to be exact.

As of now I simply have a frame work, it isn't something you can make a game out of, most of the variables are set as default, there are a few 'cool' things like a user controllable camera but even that is 'hard coded', only way you can change the way it behaves is by going right to the source code and changing out the numbers, it's just not cool like that

I just got banned from Digg due to 'misuse' of my account, I suppose defending and upholding a democratic system does that to ya (remember what they did to... ah forget it).

What misuse may that be? Would it be the part where I encouraged people to join Digg but emphasized no one exploit it? Would it be the part where I defended Digg despite its mob rule system? Ok, so it's probably the fact I dugg my own blog one too many times, which is where the murky rules of Digg come into play is with the dreaded 'blog spam

Petition - Stop Watermarking Images!

April 25th 2007 09:33
It is understandable when a website is offering free HD movie trailers given the bandwidth and storage required does cost quite a bit, but watermarking every single image and low quality piece of crap video is just ridiculous.

Take IGN or GameSpy for instance, if you're a subscriber you should at least get the option of not having to put up with watermarked videos and images - HD or not. To everyone else, it still makes no sense why they would watermark a 1280x720 screen shot of a game, often times they are just ripped right off another website

Zune Phone, iPhone

Zune Phone
I confess, I really did write a stinging article about Zune way back but now I have come to realize, Zune is just like the Xbox, it started off as big and clunky but now it just might well save us from a company that has let its brand name get to its head.

While the original Zune may not have been much it was simply an entry point for Microsoft, despite many people pronouncing it DOA the fact of the matter is it hasn’t arrived, at least not in full potential

I think one of the reasons PC users don't want to own a mac is because Apple treats its users as imbeciles. On the Mighty Mouse product page Apple declares it to be a 'two button wonder', my mouse has three buttons (scroll wheel clicks), does that make it the 'Mighty Mouse 2'?

A device so easy to use no one can use it, well almost, give it to some mac geeks who'll gawk over the Shuffle will love it to bits

Seriously dude, you claim it's to reduce spam, well, I dunno, maybe in your profession you don't know about such things as CAPTCHA, oh wait, you do! You spoke about it in TWiT

The Half Hour News Hour (which even had the name stolen from an older TV show) has been on and around for a while, though not making much of a splash on youtube I do try to look over the fence every once in a while to remind myself that there are people with other opinions which I must respect (though they never seem to return the favor, like a 102 year old Widowed woman living next door to you with her many cats).

I don't understand how 'The Half Hour News Hour' could be funny, I know what funny is, even if I am on the butt end of the joke I know what funny is, funny is confidence, funny is keeping a straight face, funny is keeping your tone consistent (unless the joke involves a lack of consistent tone which is another story all together), most importantly, funny is when you treat your audience with respect and not treat them like a bunch of pre-schoolers watching Playschool, to do that you have to have a little bit of humiliation, ease up a little, something conservatives don't even understand

huhhuh?

April 3rd 2007 11:29
I'm no fan of LGF, not only did they ruin Digg for a week with their crappy decade all repetitive 'lets bash Muslims' 'stories' that they forced by way of community Digg whoring but now after Digg members started burying their junk they have found the nerve to turn a new mentality, that all Digg members are idiots except them (most of them can't even use the 'reply' feature). Yet they still submit their junk to Digg and still try to make it to the front page on Digg through community Digg whoring.

To that end what they say is mostly stupid, very stupid, this has got to be the single dumbest comment any one from anywhere in the world could possibly make
