Trials of Making a Game

May 31st 2007 03:14
Well I sure have come a long way from the last update, I have a semi-completed the goals I wanted to originally and have done some other minorly cool stuff.

My Efforts
My Efforts 2.0

Now it may not look like it but the above recquired more coding than the last update, about two to three tiems more in fact. The reason? Animations. I went to hell and back to figure out how to load up animations from models, to hell and back!

Theres also a neato physics system though it is somewhat buggy.

Classmate VS XO-1

May 21st 2007 16:31
This is quite an interesting battle, on the one hand we have Intel with its Intel Celeron M powered Classmate pitted against the XO-1 which is powered by an AMD chip. In terms of raw numbers it seems like Intel's Classmae is the clear winner.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're going to be purchasing a highend Videocard you'll want to play games besides Battlefield 2.

While most online benchmarks are busily away proclaiming nVidia's 8800GTX the clear winner with two year old games the few that are utilizing Unreal Engine 3 (such as Splinter Cell Double Agent or Rainbow Six Vegas) are being left completely out of the picture

The recent story (submitted to Digg) made quite a bit of headway all over the internets, suddenly people were getting fired for recommending open source software by spoiled teachers who don't care about their students wellbeing. I emailed the writer of that same article to ask if Curtis Mason was really fired for recommending Linux. The reply confirmed my suspicion,

Ahmed - I do not have any evidence that Mason was fired because of the Linux switchover and I don't think that is the case. I am going to get a copy of the tech audit today, which was done by someone who works with Linux. That will provide more details.

Screwing With Nature

May 13th 2007 13:47
While we can make great headways in our society we can't fight our physical make up, we can't have sex like rabbits lest we get STD's, we can't prolong our own lives lest we live in misery and we certainly can't have babies at the tender age of 60 lest we be jerks.

Think about it, after thousands of years of developing we as humans have been fine tuned to make babies at a young age, somewhere between 16 and 30 is probably the ideal age, statistically speaking once you reach 40 the chances of you producing mutant offspring increases considerably

I always thought I was bad at multiple choice tests, really, truly, everytime theres a multiple choice question I'm not so sure about I always get it wrong, if I'm debating if its A or D I always choose the wrong one between the two, it's just my luck, which is to say, not much.

Actually my luck is usually pretty terrible, I was playing a boardgame once and lost everytime, dismally, in an effort to make things fair the other three players decided to give me three rolls of the dice and take the best of the three rolls, simply because I kept on losing because I couldn't get a decent roll, I kid you not, not even after the three rolls would I get something good

When Firefox 2.0 was released it met an extremely warm reception, as if Internet browsing took an evolutionary step up the tech ladder. Though no one cared to look at IE7, it was branded the bastard son of a goat and cow before it ever was released.

I admit I never have actually used IE7, until just two days ago. Having installed Vista on a seperate partition I was worried it would be difficult to move all my work over, especially with rumours circulating of all the bugs and evil souls hidden behind Vista's pristine graphics

Progress within the context of it supports some pretty advanced physics via an open source engine (woo, I made it happen!) though it is yet to be fully implemented what I have now is still pretty darn awesome

Big surprise, last I checked Fox was speaking of fairies in Iraq. According to the study (conducted by far left wing activists) those who rely exclusively on Fox News for their information are the worst informed about world events in the US.

Of course, given Fox News loves to spin everything to its own end, from claiming Obama is a Muslim (spectacularly proven false) to Civil War being a good thing (how civil war could be good is beyond me, even George Bush isn't stupid enough to try to push that angle

Arabic is a language, an Arab (or Arabian) is a person from an Arabian area. Arabic and Arab cannot be used interchangeably. Understandable that the system is complex, Chinese people speak Chinese and are called Chinese, right? But English speaking people can be American yet we don't say they speak American.

As for Persian? Nothing to do with Arabic, here are multiple sources backing me up

Note: I have updated the article, the original can be found down below. The reason for the edit is because there was some elements of truth to the original article I was responding to on another blog. Some parts of the original article was in fact false due to my rash reaction, I didn't expect there to ever be a rational response to the original video since it seemed to have picked up momentum with hate sites, inevitably CNN, BBC and other major news outlets did provide the fuller picture.

Propaganda is something that has existed with us for many years, propaganda for kids was probably first put into effect during World War 2 via Looney Tunes. Take the following video for example

This is one of those things that can easily be understood if you think about it for more than two minutes.

Ice is less dense than water, it's an interesting phenomenon with H20 where its V structure forces it to expand as it solidifies. Hence if you have an ice cube in water as the ice cube melts the water level decreases

Volcano
Booyah!
This is either a myth or volcano's are really, really good at covering up their tracks. I've heard some really crazy estimations, some say 'a recent volcanic eruption emitted more carbon dioxide than a whole decade of human activity'. I know when arguing with certain folks means you're not going to get straight answers or proof to back up claims, so I decided to do a little bit of research and rational thinking of my own.

Looking at Sampling Stations from across planet earth there was not one abnormal spike, surely if a volcano is going to blow well over 241 million metric tons of carbon dioxide someone would notice it, you'd pretty much be able to smell the sucker (or choke on it

What is censorship exactly? From Wikipedia: Censorship is the removal or withholding of information from the public by a controlling group or body. What is intellectual property? Again: In law, intellectual property (IP) is an umbrella term for various legal entitlements which attach to certain names, written and recorded media, and inventions.

So long as were letting people show a certain sequence of numbers are we not saying just as well lets all just use leaked source code, let peoples handwork fall into nothingness as we copy and paste it against their permision? Whats the god damned point of intellectual property? It's to protect peoples property that doesn't have a physical existence (such as a story or in this case a certain number that makes encryption), no matter how much you hate that person you cannot and should not have a right to take away his property

People interviewed in this movie are all apparently credible, respected scientists who use cold hard facts to disprove global warming, they also want to sue the film makers sorry ass.

But why? Because their words were taken out of context to make people think that Global Climate Change is not a very real issue. The film maker got these scientists, interviewed them, twisted their words as he saw fit, put it in a documentary and said 'hey what the hey, I swindled these folks to make my movie seem credible
