Trials of Making a Game

May 31st 2007 03:14
Well I sure have come a long way from the last update, I have a semi-completed the goals I wanted to originally and have done some other minorly cool stuff.

My Efforts
My Efforts 2.0

Now it may not look like it but the above recquired more coding than the last update, about two to three tiems more in fact. The reason? Animations. I went to hell and back to figure out how to load up animations from models, to hell and back!

Theres also a neato physics system though it is somewhat buggy.

I just thought it was the generel Digg bias but this particular Digg submission is kind of making me doubt were talking about Digg members here.

A lot of the members commenting were only recently registered, also if you follow the comments down the line

Classmate VS XO-1

May 21st 2007 16:31
This is quite an interesting battle, on the one hand we have Intel with its Intel Celeron M powered Classmate pitted against the XO-1 which is powered by an AMD chip. In terms of raw numbers it seems like Intel's Classmae is the clear winner.

Action movie with no emotional depth, this could be the first game ever to actually mimic the movie in interactive form.

UE3 Loves 2900XT

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're going to be purchasing a highend Videocard you'll want to play games besides Battlefield 2.

While most online benchmarks are busily away proclaiming nVidia's 8800GTX the clear winner with two year old games the few that are utilizing Unreal Engine 3 (such as Splinter Cell Double Agent or Rainbow Six Vegas) are being left completely out of the picture

When submitting a story I noticed something, I took a screenshot of the page. Can anyone spot the difference? (Really easy for anyone who has used Digg for more than a week)

The recent story (submitted to Digg) made quite a bit of headway all over the internets, suddenly people were getting fired for recommending open source software by spoiled teachers who don't care about their students wellbeing. I emailed the writer of that same article to ask if Curtis Mason was really fired for recommending Linux. The reply confirmed my suspicion,

Ahmed - I do not have any evidence that Mason was fired because of the Linux switchover and I don't think that is the case. I am going to get a copy of the tech audit today, which was done by someone who works with Linux. That will provide more details.

Screwing With Nature

May 13th 2007 13:47
While we can make great headways in our society we can't fight our physical make up, we can't have sex like rabbits lest we get STD's, we can't prolong our own lives lest we live in misery and we certainly can't have babies at the tender age of 60 lest we be jerks.

Think about it, after thousands of years of developing we as humans have been fine tuned to make babies at a young age, somewhere between 16 and 30 is probably the ideal age, statistically speaking once you reach 40 the chances of you producing mutant offspring increases considerably

I always thought I was bad at multiple choice tests, really, truly, everytime theres a multiple choice question I'm not so sure about I always get it wrong, if I'm debating if its A or D I always choose the wrong one between the two, it's just my luck, which is to say, not much.

Actually my luck is usually pretty terrible, I was playing a boardgame once and lost everytime, dismally, in an effort to make things fair the other three players decided to give me three rolls of the dice and take the best of the three rolls, simply because I kept on losing because I couldn't get a decent roll, I kid you not, not even after the three rolls would I get something good

When Firefox 2.0 was released it met an extremely warm reception, as if Internet browsing took an evolutionary step up the tech ladder. Though no one cared to look at IE7, it was branded the bastard son of a goat and cow before it ever was released.

I admit I never have actually used IE7, until just two days ago. Having installed Vista on a seperate partition I was worried it would be difficult to move all my work over, especially with rumours circulating of all the bugs and evil souls hidden behind Vista's pristine graphics

Working Hard or Hardly Working?

May 11th 2007 11:51
I've been diligently working on my lil 'ol project from way back and I'm pleased to report that I've made progress.

Progress within the context of it supports some pretty advanced physics via an open source engine (woo, I made it happen!) though it is yet to be fully implemented what I have now is still pretty darn awesome

Change Your Moods?

May 9th 2007 13:32
I-Doser, a freely downloadable program, claims to be able to make you feel a certain way using 'Binaural brainwave doses for every imaginable mood'.

Kind of scary but I decided to give it a shot, I mean, whats to lose? I've been busting my butt on a little project of mine and wanted to try out the 'content' mood

Perhaps I'm not looking at it fully or am missing something, I don't know, just how can someone be stupid enough to not know where the Berlin Wall is located? How can someone be stupid enough to mistake North Korea with Australia?

Then again, I've never been to America
