September 29th 2007 20:12
In a sense this image is still, it doesn't move, there is no animation in it what to speak of.

But theres something alive in it...

Counting Pixels - How Low Can I Go?

September 29th 2007 06:06
I'm all for good image quality in video games, I'm all for good graphics and realistic animations. But honestly, when someone stoops down to counting pixels to prove something is of lesser quality than it potentially could have been... well thats just sad.

Halo 3
Counting Pixels... Saaaad

Resolutions are overhyped, put simply, they are way over hyped. When moving from console to console it always gets bumped up, back in the nes era it was something like 300x200, now it's more closer to 1280x720 and matters less than anyone can imagine. It becomes harder and harder to tell the difference in resolution as they go up, theres a saturation point where the performance impact that comes with these higher resolutions is no longer worth the graphical improvements they may or may not bring.

The basic benchmark for graphical quality should not be based on any one criteria such as resolution but on the package as a whole. A games resolution doesn't mean much, in many ways it is a detriment to the games graphics as the higher the resolution goes the further the performance is killed off the less headroom there is for more graphical effects.

Fox News Informs of the 'Anonymous Threat'

September 22nd 2007 05:01
Don't you just love it when abused and insulted by a random dude online under the alias of 'anonymous'? We assume they're just lil 13 year old kids too afraid to leave any sort of footprint on the interwebs with their cussing (in case their mum finds out). Well it turns out that isn't true, Fox News investigated the Anonymous and found out it is an organized hacker group!

Fox News

September 22nd 2007 04:51
Fox News (also known as Faux News, GOP TV, or the Our Leader's Glorious Official Republican Government News Network) is a network for Republicans, white trash, Jews, bitches, and 16 year old girls. The flagship of the old media, Fox is one of the greatest sources of drama on teh internets since Bush stole the election last Thursday. Countless blogs and politcal commentary websites erupt into debate over the latest musings of Sean Hannity or that shemale Ann Coulter featured on the network.

Christianhillbilly gets his facts from Fox News because it the last remaining bulwark against the Jewish liberal media. Some argue that Rupert Murdoch is in fact Jewish, and did WTC to generate lulzy footage for his news empire to replay over 9000 times in any given week. Foreigners and Noam Chomsky hate Fox News because Fox covers liberals and terrorists getting raped by real men with guns. Supporters of Fox argue that the network simply reports the rape, and allows its viewers to decide if the victims were asking for it.

Microsoft Anti Competitive Behaviour
Microsoft has always been the best friend of the programmer, in fact when compared to the likes of Apple or IBM it looks like they're in another entire business altogether. Just what has gotten into the minds of the morons up in the EU who seem to beconvinced of Microsoft’s dastardly plans like some moronic Linux fanboy?

What’s even more disgusting is the fact the EU is charing Microsoft with the same behaviours companies like Apple make an actual business model out of. Microsoft is being asked to reveal its 'secrets' to allow third party developers to better compete with them on their own OS

Firefox is Proof Open Source is Failing

September 16th 2007 09:12
The general consensus is that the open source isn't gaining traction is because Microsoft is doing what it needs to from a business standpoint to buy out/take hostage the consumer. However the massive popularity of Firefox is proof enough that this simply can't be the case.

When it comes down to it all you just have to look at it in perspective. Every Windows machine ships with a copy of Internet Explorer for free, yet consumers are actively finding and download Firefox. What of Word Processing software? People pay money for Microsoft Office, and it sure isn't cheap, it doesn't even necessarily come with every Windows PC and additional components will invariably cost more (such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc

Right and Left Coding Styles

September 15th 2007 20:12
When writing software you can take different approaches to solving problems. Here is an example (I'll explain the code after the main article) of how a left winger and right winger may handle a simple everyday problem.

IT's a sad state of affairs when a company can screw over its overly loyal fanuserbase and have its own customers lay blame on something else entirely.

So the reason the iPhone does not support custom ringtones, something that has been around for quite sometime, is because the RIAA won't let Apple due to royalty disputes

Apple's New iPods Only Work With iTunes

September 15th 2007 05:28

Locked to iTunes, But For How Long?
Umm, ouch? Apple has decided to make the new iPods only work using iTunes and locking out all third party software. This effectively turns iTunes and the iPod into one package, no other MP3 player can use iTunes given it has DRM further shunning out competition. Apple is holding a gun to its consumers head, plain and simple.

As Apple does, part of its marketting plan, establish a good market then lock out competing software hence mp3 players. Which sap would like to completely change over MP3 players and lose thousands of downloaded only from iTunes

Some claim Microsoft is using India as a testing ground to release a general OEM Microsoft PC (much like Apples ridiculously over priced range of Macs) but to me it screams of 'teaching impressionable young *Indian* kids to use Windows computers'.

The technology behind these education focused PCs is great, it allows for multiple mice to be connected to the one computer which obviously instantly multiplies the usability of any one PC by the number of mice it has. Unfortunately the computer itself seems to only have room for one display, so there will be a lot of multicoloured cursors on the monitor

Depending on which end of the fence you're on you can see this as yet another evil attempt by Microsoft to take over the world or that Microsoft is simply tired of having users stuff up their operating system because they don't update. On the other hand it could just as well be have been a lazy programmer forgetting to include there is an update being downloaded.

The 'update' itself is small and centers around the actual Windows Update feature. While people have already started accusing Microsoft of acting immorally I believe the reasoning behind it is simple. First of all, Microsoft is under no obligation to inform users it has upgraded the software but it does so anyway. Secondly, the reason for this update seems to have been centered around the update software itself and nothing else

John Howard to Clean Up The Internet

September 5th 2007 07:39
I don't have a problem with laws being passed to make it a hate crime to deny the holocaust or to go around the place naked. There are, of course, fundamental laws of human decency that all humans should agree to. Unfortunately, every so often someone shows up who decides he or she knows better than everyone else, worse yet said someone is in a position of power.

Mr. Howard has decided he will provide free filters to all Australian families (provided through ISPs) to protect them from the horrors of the internet, naturally Kevin Rudd has jumped on the bandwagon, no doubt to appeal to the Christian voters. If they're going to be giving such tools to families shouldn't they, by the same line of logic provide free diapers, books, computers, clothing and whatever else it takes to raise a child

Fun as in how? Welllll, lots of fun, for instance after using Facebooks 'likeness' test on movies I found that I should divorce Brenton and marry Cibbuano. Very handy should I ever be looking for romance [ Click here to read more ]
