Dumb Blonde Kills Three in Suicide

October 31st 2007 18:36
A dumb blonde decided she had enough and crashed her car instantly killing three people in the car she crashed into. She survived with a broken angle.

She will now be sentenced to death leaving behind a legacy of dumb blonde jokes.

So the last part was not true, but the rest of it is. Dumb blonde wants to commit suicide, rams into another car, kills three people, survivies with a broken ankle. Isn't life just wonderful? It's like the whole Britney Spears thing except she's younger.

The only way this could become more surreal is if she gets sent to death row and subsequently put under suicide watch. God knows how many more peoples lives will be at risk should she try to kill herself again!

Sony Jumps Into In-Game Advertising

October 31st 2007 06:11
God of War In-game Advertising
There was a time when there were no ads in my games or at least when the odd product placement went unnoticed. Then came EA which openly said it was going to add advertisements, there was generel uproar yet it was no big deal, I mean, it was pretty generic billboard stuff.

Not willing to just copy Sony is going the full mile and plans to bring video advertising into the game, in real time, in the game. Going above just product placing and static ads Sony will be using the virtual Sony brand TVs to pump out realtime ads for real products like games.

While interesting at this point it's unclear if these types of ads will make it past Playstation Home.

Oink Pig Shut Down
This Little Piggy Got Shutdown
Title long? Well good, because I am trying to express my sadness for a service (whose existence was not even worthy of a Wiki entry) which was shutdown by a global RIAA conspiricy.

So the internet is with one less bittorrent tracker, it's over now isn't it? The common argument (or more like justification) for using Bittorrent to download music is because fans are looking for a quick and easy way to get music and paid alternatives often times aren't good enough. iTunes apparently has popups and DRM (which is from what I understand impossible to circumvent) then theres Amazon which provides DRM free tracks but... well thats Amazon.

I like my music free, downloaded from random websites and when one of the more obscure ones is shutdown I cry foul and blame everyone except the artists for being douche bags and actually signing up with the lables that are part of this world wide conspiracy. Yes being with labes gets these artists lots of money but apparently they are immune to doing wrong because they play the music. No mention on how their popularity is the result of these lables pouring money into their petiful careers only so that they end up spending the rest of their days as drug addicts.

What I'm trying to say is simple, if you want better service you don't just go and start stealing things, you go make the company fix its shit up. You circumnavigate DRM, you stop buying from stores with popups, you protest with your money.

Thats what a consumer should do in the event he or she is provided subpar service. If they start stealing then they are not consumers, they're thieves.

Samsung T10 - First Wireless MP3 Player

October 30th 2007 19:28
Samsung T10 MP3 Players Bluetooth Wireless
Given how fast technology progresses one has to wonder how the concept of a wireless MP3 player has never been made into a reality. Sure they can play movies, browse the internet and even do what computers used to (see iPod Touch) but there has never been an MP3 player that made use of wireless headphones. So big cheers and congrats to Samsung for finally doing away with the wires.

As the first major manufacturer to launch Bluetooth capable MP3 players in Australia, Samsung is offering consumers complete freedom from wires. In addition to wireless freedom, the T10 allows you to share your experience with friends – the T10 supports two Bluetooth headsets and earphones simultaneously so that three people can listen to music or watch movie footage at the same time. The T10 has touch-sensitive controls that illuminate once the player is turned on and an animated user interface makes the menu fun and simple to navigate.

Can't Ever Have Enough

October 30th 2007 18:59
I have three ps3s playstation 3 stacked up
You just gotta love YouTube and the occasional video responses that are actually funny. In this case a production by one of those backyard studios involving an owner with three Playstation 3s was answered by some kid with 4 Playstation 3s. It's funnier than I'm making it sound because I'm dull and drab, so take a look for yourselves,

Get the RSCPA on PC Worlds Ass!

October 30th 2007 18:46
PC World Writer
Your Typical PC World Writer - Note Species and Typewriter
PC World have declared that the $2419 USD Mac Book Pro is the fastest Vista laptop they have ever tested which is, if anything, a clear indication the head honchos up at PC World HQ have been feeding illicit drugs to the monkeys who work for them.

The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year--or for that matter, ever--is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro's PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway's E-265M by a single point, but the MacBook's score is far more impressive simply because Apple couldn't care less whether you run Windows

The Obsession

October 27th 2007 17:25
It would seem that Little Green Footballs has a hard time dealing with all that Daily Kos branded popularity and like a bitter child has been dedicating lots and lots of time attacking the more liberal blog.

The exact words "Daily Kos" is mentioned 54,300 times on the LGF blog as according to Google while the exact words, in the exact order, "Little Green Footballs" is listed a mere 1,250 times on the Daily Kos blog. What’s going on? Is Little Green Footballs mission statement to hate everyone more than anyone could possibly hate it and its members

First of all I would very much like to express my apologies to Viacom for ordering those dastardly take downs to YouTube that ended up with zero Daily Show goodness on YouTube. They have in fact made up for it by way of archiving the entire series online!

Earlier on I elaborated on what I believed was a conspiracy against Microsoft through a veil known as 'The EU'. I retract that prior statement, or at least a part of it, the open source community seems to have nothing to do with this conspiracy because now, suddenly, out of no where, the EU says the open source community should pay Microsoft for alleged software patents the software giant is holding.

The natural question is, WHAT THE HELL? What software patents? They are so vague you'd have to have the imagination of Shayamalan to pull off a ripper of a twist that would even vaguely apply to any individual alleged infringment

Imagine you have this terrible itch that won't go away, one thats driving you nuts, yet your hands are preoccupied trying to kill the mosquito that inflicted you with that itch. For Sony, the fly is the Playstation 3s poor sales and scratching the itch is getting a good game for the system.

To that end it's no surprise that after shipping off their best bet for a real 'killer app' to retail stores Sony have adopted a... generous marketting strategy, that is 'release the damn game as soon as you have it in stock, don't wait for the release date

*Note: No I'm not going to be professing my love for open source and the following it by 'except I just wish... yadayadayada'. I don't 'love' open source, I like it, but it isn't something I'm going to die for. Let it be known I'll criticize it (or the community behind it in this case) with no remorse and no apologising.

So, what happens when a new Ubuntu is released? You get blogs, websites, magazines and various other media proclaiming such things as 'A Vista Killer at last - new Ubuntu!' or 'Ubuntu is now finally out of the woods and ready to compete with Windows!' amongst other things

'Maxing Out That Blu-Ray'

October 20th 2007 09:56
There has been a lot of questions about higher storage being necessary for next generation games. Above all else Metal Gear Solid has turned into the poster boy of why higher capacity disc storage is an absoloute must in next generation media. Unfortunately it would seem the hype is somewhat unfounded and the claims a little hypocritical.

In an interview with Gametrailers Ryan Peyton says that there is no audi compression going on, no MP3 compression, just raw, hardly compressed audio

Office Live, much like a certain other service, is a free online Office Suite. Just like the previous mentioned competition Office Live ties in with a universal username/password combination, basically ifyou already own a Microsoft Live account (i.e. hotmail) then you have access to this free service, albeit you still have to pre-register for it.

This step may not be necessary in the not too distant future when the software goes 'live' (so to speak

FINALLY! MySpace to Copy Facebook

October 18th 2007 13:18
Murdoch
Maaan, Murdoch Looks Scary As Shit
Before anyone gets all fuming, please, calm down. I don't care and neither should you. Facebook did a wonderful thing by opening up its platform and it's great to see MySpace following suit. Competition is good, copying is good, it's all good.

MySpace is going open platform means a lot of the widgets and gadgets that up until now only Facebook has benefited from will carry over. It will start when a list of existing widgets made by third parties becomes available to MySpace users and will carry on from there, probably with a complete SDK

So what does the fatman say thats getting on the nerves of them Apple and Sony fanboys? Well lets start with Apple

It Just Works, Doesn't It?

October 15th 2007 00:51
If this was Microsoft they would have been torn apart by now, those SOBs get torn apart for some crazy bugs no one cares about yet Apple has been screwing over some of its customers quite sometime with a piece of software that doesn't work, where are the complaints?

Bootcamp on certain 24" iMacs (ones with outdated nVidia 7300/7600 videocards) doesn't work, in fact it hasn't been working since the launch of the iMac last year! Get this, Apple has been screwing over its customers with a buggy piece of crap software for the past year and no one has complained about it until now via this typical Apple fanboy blog post (typical in the sense it gives no sources and says it's a secret) showing off just how 'content' iMac users are

I could sure use one of these and not just because I'm into the whole 'lets read Ann Coulters mind to see if she's really human and not some alien life form in the vein of The Thing'.

This has far more interesting uses, not the least of which is it can tell you if you're having too much of any specific thing, namely work, boredom, fun etc

The Vii - China's Answer to the Wii

October 14th 2007 03:58
The China Vii is just the latest in copycat technology coming from China. It's a blessing and a curse for China, it's also a good reason why Nintendo and friends don't seem to be as prominant there than they could be. Pity too, considering it's a big as market buying into second rate rip offs.

This Cracks Me Up

OK, normally I wouldn't comment on someone elses blog post (at least here on Orble), thats what the comments are for. However the sheer stupidity of this one post makes me really want to comment on it, simply to show how narrow minded some people can be.

My response (also in the comments on said blog post) is as follows

Please understand when I say 'liquid' I mean *any* liquid. Absoloutely any kind of liquid that isn't going to corrode the metallic casing of this battery is going to charge it. The battery comes in AA and AAA variants and is sold in Japan, it can be recharged for up to 500 mAh. To put that in perspective a regular alkaline battery has about 1700 mAh in it.

Well it's a start, thats for sure, but what does the future hold? Well Samsung claims to have "developed a micro-fuel cell and hydrogen generator that runs on H20.". Now thats big news, and Samsung plans to put its money where it's mouth is when it releases mobile phones that use this technology. Awesome.

Google Has Adsensed YouTube

October 9th 2007 18:24
I admit that I was a little bit sceptical when Google Adsense started employing picture based ads instead of just text based ones. While more in your face such a thing felt too intrusive and against Googles basic premise.

Looks like Google doesn't care what I think (and why should they?) as they have now added adsense to YouTube. Ads can now be tacked onto your youtube vides, meaning the random video content on your site when clicked also gives you some money

Lina is an open source virtual layer that allows programs compiled in Linux to run on other operating systems (including Windows). It is basically an abstraction layer that takes in the linux calls and converts them to their host operating system counter part.

It's cool because it can provide for true cross platform software without the need for recompiling with minor (or major) modifications to existing code. It's even cooler because if it does a 180 and starts getting Windows applications to run on Linux (with minimal developer head aches) it would finally be a step in the right direction in turning Linux into a viable competitor against the likes of Windows and OS X
