I remember way back in highschool we were once asked to give an oral presentation on a specific subject matter. Being the asshole I was I wanted to do something rather unconventional.. now of course to do something 'unconventional' you have to find something which is conventional. Back then (and still today) I was a fan of political humour but observed all political humour seems to be 'liberally biased'. I set out to give a conservative stand up routine, if there ever was such a thing.

Being the centrist I am I have a firm belief liberals don't have a monopoly on humour (even if they are so damn good at it) however conservatives are just too boring and serious to crack jokes. So I sit down and scribble away coming up with ideas for conservative flavoured jokes and explanations for why there is not a fool who sits on the right side of the fence game enough to say the jokes. It was titled "Homosexuals Are Repressed Hetrosexuals - If Conservatives Were Funny They'd Be Me".

Perhaps I didn't try enough hard on the humour or just couldn't be stuffed or whatever I ended up rewriting most of it to answer the question of why conservatives aren't funny, I did however keep the title which I quite liked.

So why aren't conservatives funny? Buggered all if I know, but maybe it has something to do with how tight arsed they are.

For the record I never did give the speach, I backed out and did a generic one. As gutsy as I was I figured I didn't want to get in trouble over an assignment like this. Still, I wish I had a copy of what I wrote. Maybe one day I'll try to re-write it, if I ever get the chance.

So what does this have with the week? I really dunno, I'm just tired and wa

A Light That Lasts for 15 Years

May 20th 2008 16:42
So ecoble is running a story on a light source that can last 15 years.

glow in the dark suit

How about a glowing light source that lasts for 15 years instead of the typical 15 minutes of a glowstick? GlowPaint’s newest product does just that and is also non-toxic and inexpensive and doesn’t require a recharge via solar or electrical sources for its entire lifespan. According to the company, “This has potential to save billions in energy costs world-wide. Litroenergy™ surpasses all known available lighting options for cost/durability/reliability and safety.” Their products are expected to be used to replace other forms of safety, emergency and novelty lighting duties normally performed by glow sticks, LEDs and other light sources.

Umm, excuse me, ITS RADIOACTIVE!

I'd rather buy double AA's than grow a fourth arm (yes, I have three arms, failed super hero experiment).

This is somewhat similar to Google Earth and even 'Megatextures' which are actually both more or less the samething. Basically this technology allows computers to deal with massive amounts of information through streaming data from the harddrive rather than having to store it in the RAM.

China’s cyber warfare army is marching on, and India is suffering silently. Over the past one and a half years, officials said, China has mounted almost daily attacks on Indian computer networks, both government and private, showing its intent and capability.

The sustained assault almost coincides with the history of the present political disquiet between the two countries.

Linux is Unix in a new Package?

May 3rd 2008 07:14
Troubled software maker SCO's chief executive has claimed the Linux operating system includes Unix source code, during a court case in which Novell is suing SCO for royalties on Unix.

In the hearing, which concludes on Friday, SCO chief executive Darl McBride made claims--including that "Linux is a copy of Unix"--which are directly contradicted by the open-source community and apparently run counter to other SCO testimony, according to trial watchers, including Ars Technica.
