"Qtrax is an ad-supported P2P music service that has claimed to have made license agreements with the four major record labels (EMI, SonyBMG, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group). In actuality, three of the four companies have stated that no deals have been made."
It certainly has received alot of publicty over the past week - so either a few of the major labels, Qtrax or the press will have egg on their face if what Pat says is correct.
Guess the labels had to do something to put the kibosh on P2P's such as Limewire.
Don't understand why it's not available on Mac until March 18 though - something to do with itunes perhaps?
Apparenlty the quality of the mp3s are slightly lower than what you'd get from a standard cd. In any case I find it to be the most sanest compromise thusfar, you can't fight the p2p so why not profit from it? Even if only a ltitel bit of profit, better than none.
Ultimately it will lead to bigger and better things.
