Blogg-Buzzing to Boring Stories World
January 19th 2007 15:29
I was at first excited about the concept behind Blogg-Buzz yet weary that it might turn into a Digg clone with nothing but what they call on Digg as ‘blog spam’ heaven.
While the submissions are exhibiting similar traits to Digg it looks like the bigger problem Blogg-Buzz is facing is that the community of bloggers it has mustered seems to have lost the plot some way down the line re-posting stories from sites such as Digg and submitting too many stories related directly to blogging.
It’s disheartening to see that bloggers seem to take more interest in their more than the subject matters they are trying to inform the rest of the world about. As of writing nine of the fifteen popular posts were related directly to blogs, including copy and paste Digg submissions.
When I go to sites like Digg I want to read fresh original content, something worth Digging, something to interest me, I thought Blogg-Buzz was going to be the same but unlike sites like Digg all posts would be heavily biased and as such more enjoyable to read (more often than not). But it looks like all the ‘Blogging 101’ posts have made it to the front page, no doubt for the wrong reasons.
Bare in mind I am not saying it is over for Blogg-Buzz, it is still young and the community is getting off its feet, but if this continues and remains as such by the time Blogg-Buzz becomes final I don’t think it will be able to buzz very much longer as a serious outlet for blog news but will instead turn into a site promoting bloggers news.
