Inflatable Cars Comming Soon

June 5th 2008 17:24
[quoteIt's hard to say what the most intriguing thing about XP Vehicles' inflatable car is. Maybe it's that the car can travel for up to 2,500 miles on a single electric charge (the distance across the US is roughly 3,000 miles).

Or maybe it's the fact that you buy the car online, it gets shipped to you in two cardboard boxes, and the estimated assembly time is less than two hours. Perhaps it's that the car is made out of "airbags" - the same polymer materials used to cushion NASA's rovers when they landed on Mars. Then again, it could be the company's claim that you can drive the car off a cliff without serious injury, and that it will float in a flood or tsunami.

Together, these features characterize the Whisper, XP Vehicles' solution to the oil crisis. The company doesn't expect the car to be in production until 2010 at the earliest, but when it is, it will hopefully be an extremely affordable $10,000 or less. XP Vehicles envisions four body styles, along with a special low-priced model for the Southeast Asian market.

Oh wonderful, now cars need to be assembled.

Sentinels

April 29th 2008 13:39
Continuing with our post apocalyptic theme it seems that we now have the sentinels from 'The Matrix' to worry about:

I just wonder if it's 3D or just a flat 2D image you can see from any angle.

150" Plasmas Right 'Round the Corner

December 27th 2007 06:59
The biggest Plasma TVs in the world are currently built by Sharp, they measure in at 108". Well it looks like Panasonic wants to change all that and is getting ready to unveil its 150" displays. Apparently the price of this whopper is expected to, and I quote, 'greatly exceed the 103" model'. Oh well, guess I'll stick to my trust 15.4" laptop display for now.

Alienware Laptop - Not so Cool, More like HOT
Call me crazy if you will but I fail to see the point of a laptop more powerful than most desktop computers selling for up to 50% more than other equally powerful desktop computers.

For something the battery will die in a matter of minutes - what with that sort of power consumption, for another you won't get near peak performance when not plugged in to a power output, so for that 15 minutes the damn thing is running you'll find you're not able to use it to its highest potential

Robotic vehicles with various sensors, from cameras to lasers, were put side by side in a race to prove their worth, not necessarily as the fastest vehicles, but the most reliable. The winner will be decided based on a combination of time completion, observation of road laws, and safety.

Aliens? Hardly

June 28th 2007 03:48
A bunch of flying objects that seemingly defy normal understandings of aerodynamics have been spotted around the US. Naturally geeks are putting aside all logic and reason in favor of thinking the US government has some top secret project involving invisibility capable flying probes. It's gone so far that this story is actually being taken seriously, though it reads like the rantings of a delusional hippie who is convinced his penis has been microchipped, though odds are it is a clever hoax to capitalize on whats happening here. People don't believe 9/11 conspiracy theories but they believe that, pah-lease.

3D Virtual TV

March 31st 2007 02:12
I'm a luddite in that I don't see how this can at all be used except for in video games, in movies it might be a little bit too redundant, but to each his own,
