Eat Your Heart Out ASIMO

While ASIMO is just learning how to run Plen the robot is already roller skating.
I’m not sure if the human-esque behaviour of Plen as it skates around is delibrate programming to make it look more friendly or if it really has to move in such a way to maintain balance. Either way it *skates* rings around ASIMO.
Plen is about 0.75 ft tall is powered by the ARM 7 CPU running at 33mhz controlling 88 joint movements, it also supports Bluetooth communications. It weighs in at 700 grams.
I know you guys want to go ahead and ask what you think is a rhetorical question, “Where can I buy one and for how much?” Well you can get one from Japan for about 262,500 Yen. Of course they come in limited quantity, I think about fifty in total so you better hurry if they haven’t already sold out.
Visit Plen’s website for more information.

To be fair, ASIMO looks very fluid in movement. Plen's kinda clunky.
But ASIMO has a lame name - the Italian word for donkey is ASINO.
Too close for comfort ;o)
