Old Zune Gets New Zune Features

October 3rd 2007 12:54
After announcing the Zune 2 line of MP3/movie players Microsoft has also announced that all the new features of the Zune 2 line (minus the extra storage ^_^) will also be going to the original Zune by way of a software update.

First Zune 2 Shots

Despite a faulty start (much like the original Xbox) it would seem that bringing its software business model to the Zune (Windows 98 had been recieving updates years after XP was released) may help it win some customers and positive PR.

Keeping things easy on old consumers has helped Microsoft dominate the desktop operating business, it's now only a matter of time before we find out how well it applies to MP3 players.

GBA Tech Demo(')s

May 2nd 2007 23:21
Imagine a fully realized Metal Gear Solid re-release on the Gameboy Advance. Pity actual games never look as good as the tech demos (for the console in question), even if they're not pre-rendered.

Zune Phone, iPhone

April 25th 2007 09:10
Zune Phone
I confess, I really did write a stinging article about Zune way back but now I have come to realize, Zune is just like the Xbox, it started off as big and clunky but now it just might well save us from a company that has let its brand name get to its head.

While the original Zune may not have been much it was simply an entry point for Microsoft, despite many people pronouncing it DOA the fact of the matter is it hasn’t arrived, at least not in full potential

OpenMoko Mobile Phone

The Neo1973 is the product of the OpenMoko project, it really is no more than an iPhone copycat using Linux as its operating system.

Technically the Neo1973 will be the first ever open-source mobile phone, that is, it will be fee

How Easy a Mac is

February 8th 2007 10:10
So I read in the February issue of ‘Macworld’ of yet another one of those ‘from PC to Macintosh’ migrants. Jason Snell (editor) speaks of how his retired ex-executive uncle decided to move over to Mac claiming that the reason he wouldn’t move of past was because that Windows based software would not run on Mac’s and since the Mac’s switch to Intel CPU’s it has become more efficient to run Windows applications natively on OSX.

But why would his uncle move to Mac? Apparently because OSX is so much ‘easier’ to work with than Windows. The Mac Fanboys really, really, need to get their heads out of the sand if they really want to move on and properly challenge Microsoft’s dominance, there ‘once upon a time, happily ever after’ stories just doesn’t cut it, ignoring the facts does not make everything better

What N-Gage 2 Needs

February 7th 2007 07:47
N-Gage 2 prototype
N-Gage 2 Prototype?
The original N-Gage was (is) one of the biggest flops in gaming history, basically it demonstrated why it was foolish to try to push technology further than it can go for a certain time period.

So it is a little crazy reading about rumours of an N-Gage 2, complete with a proto-type photograph. Still, if lessons are learned (N-Gage name dumped) I think the N-Gage 2 could do heaps better than the first

Water Bottle Computer

February 2nd 2007 14:08
What would the advantage of sticking a little bit of technology onto a water bottle bring? Quite a bit in fact.

HydroCoach is the result of this little experiment, it has a computer embedded into the bottle which you manually input your weight, the duration and intensity of your exercise and it will as such measure how much water you are drinking and how much water you should drink to stay fit and healthy

Run Hamster, Run, I Type Fast!

Hamster Running on Wheel
Run you little bugger!
The USB hamster wheel is a simple plug and play utility that records your WPM, or more like, indicates your WPM by having a toy hamster do its run on a wheel, the higher your WPM the faster hamster runs.

At this point you’ll probably be looking for a name for hamster, I suggest something cute and obvious like Hamtypo
