Google OS For Smart Phones May Make Appearance in February
December 27th 2007 06:51
In a quest to take over the world Google is now working on a universal operating system for smart phones to compete directly with Windows Mobile and the Symbian OS. At its heart the OS, dubbed 'Android', is a re-tooled Linux designed specifically for mobilephones.
Android probably won't be bringing anything revolutionary to the table but more competition is always good.

But I have read several reviews where it has been mentioned that perhaps Google wants to do with Android what Sun would have wanted to do with J2ME, i.e. prevent the APIs from being a bloated set of code.
And talking of revolutionary, the technology that lets you assess GPS data on a non-GPS phone too is indeed awesome.
