This Cracks Me Up

October 13th 2007 15:16
OK, normally I wouldn't comment on someone elses blog post (at least here on Orble), thats what the comments are for. However the sheer stupidity of this one post makes me really want to comment on it, simply to show how narrow minded some people can be.

My response (also in the comments on said blog post) is as follows:

You're probably finding it harder and harder to refute the evidence so you're trying to shift positions as if to adopt without adopting, how could you agree with a 'liberal'? If you care to look at it from a less than biased and personal perspective you might come to the conclusion that your reasoning is in fact wrong.

First off, people are going off hungry not because there isn't enough food in the world. The reasons (note plural) are much more complex than that and it goes from corporate greed to war to climate change.

Second of all, the increasing temperatures is causing a lot of head aches for farmers. We already have a massive drought problem here in Australia. Farmers are barely getting by yet you claim they should be thriving.

Finally, and most obviously, the amount of food produced on a farm is not dependent on time. You can't have 'more' harvests in the same season. Crops grow throughout the year and are only harvested when in season. I don't understand what makes you think longer seasons mean more harvest, it makes no sense whatsoever.

Naturally I'm not taking an ultimatum approach here, there is some validity in her argument though claiming that "Climate Change might very well be the greatest blessing that mankind could hope for" is a bit of a stretch. The writer seems to be at war with herself considering the amounting evidence against her cause. Considering she spent about 80% of the post explaining how she doesn't believe in 'globull warming' it would seem that she's only trying to convince herself.

The following image is supposedly 100% real, the lizard was trained by some guy with too much time on his hands.
