I Really Don’t Listen to Music *but*

December 9th 2006 12:32
I have a soft spot for ‘classic’ games from my childhood, and yes that is including their music.

Chrono Trigger
Oh, sweet, sweet memories...
What sells me isn’t the quality of the score of games such as ‘Chrono Trigger’ but just the fact it reminds me of the days I used to play such games. So anyway, I figure I may as well share all this with the rest of the world.

Ye oldé game musical extravaganza (also known as ‘monophonic orchestra rocks!’).

*Note the download size is exceedingly small for each as they are in the midi format.

Chrono Trigger
-Peaceful Days
-Wind Scene
-Zeal Overworld

Super Mario
-Theme
-Starman

Terranigma
-Over World

Thanks to hamienet.com for the midi's.

Note I only came up with three so far, my memory has never been very good, the fact I haven’t slept proper in quite sometime contributes further to my failing memory (I swear it gets worse by the day!).

Oh Ahmed - I'm just too old!

One game from my childhood was Frogger!

That would be in my early, early childhood!

But with two children under four, I can't expect to be taken as anything less than "older".

Love your work, Ahmed!

I'm in the same generation as Little Angry Doll. Except I'm a little older...

Still, those songs from the Atari are good, too.

Apart from Mario's music, the other tracks you posted have a soft spot for me too. It's a shame that they don't sell game soundtracks here, or I would buy a few of my favourites (I own a few albums of somewhat random ones I bought overseas).

Have you heard the arranged version of Overworld by any chance? It's one of my favourite out of the 6 they released an arranged version of on the Terranigma Arranged Soundtrack (the OST is included on the album, I don't think there was a separate one).

nah, I don't make a habit of listening to them, just hearing them from time to time remind me of such and such...
