If Global Warming Was Not Real

June 21st 2007 09:17
Jesus is Coming - Look Busy
Can We REALLY Wait Up For Jesus?
If it were a non-issue, if it weren't the cause of man, would we be able to sit back and relax? Well no, because us pot smoking hippy's will point our fingers at the great barrier reef, at the Amazon rainforest, at the increasingly larger number of endangered animals.

Of course we'd be shunned by the right wingers, who'll dismiss our claims as an empty sham, a political agenda to bring back Nazism or kill three billion people (somehow). They'll say we did not follow the peer review or 'proper science' (which ironically we did), then they'll go back to their homes and teach their kids how the T-Rex ate coconuts and 'Jesus is coming - look busy'.

So, if the earth was not being suckered, if we weren't going to end up destroying everything we have built, where would that lead us?

Great Barrier Reef Dies

Acid Rain Kills Off Many Rivers (I've actually heard an argument that it cleans rivers since acidic waters are always clearer, I won't even touch this).

Animals That Can't Adapt Will Keep Dying

We'll Run Out Of Oil, Then What? No medicine, price of plastic will sour through the roof, mango flavoured ice creams wil become a thing of the past. No joke, you think crude oil is only used for your friggin car?

I kinda thought it was more like this:

Every subjective ideology has Rapture, Armageddon, etc... The folks running in circles about global warming aren't interested in objective views. Well, they are the new hordes that had to be politicized. They are not religious so one can't get them up in a frazzle about the supreme being. Sad truth is many of the scientists that are shouting about global warming today were shouting about global cooling in the 70s. These folks are professors and doctors that have to get funding to keep their classes open, careers running and fields sprawling.

I am not saying global warming or cooling isn't happening. I really don't know but there is one thing I was taught as a child and it was reinforced a numberless many of times: There was once an Ice Age in which the planet was very cold and this shaped current life on earth.

Well I guess I get my "The End is Near" sign and stand out near a busy intersection now.

haha, wasn't that supposed to happen before the year 2000 rolled around?

I think you need to wait until 2060 now (I think some dude from themiddle ages guessed thats when the world would end).

Yeah, it was a great scientist. Sir Issac Netwon! He who knew all about religion, science and math! Slightly sarcastic here. They actually used that one in my Sunday school to validate biblical teachings of end of *. It was presented as something along the lines of: "all the great minds are exploring this so there has got to be something there" Anyhow, kinda brings me back to the point everyone predicts "the end" just out of reach or has some fall back excuse "Uh... yeah the Deus Ex Machina came in and saved the day!" Well.. Ill stand, face the stage, clap two or three and wait for the next show.
