Versus: XVID, DVD, HD-DVD 720p and 1080p

About bloody well time somebody did one of these. Bloody hell! In between all the ‘Xbox 360 VS Playstation 3’ graphics comparisons and general Playstation 3 bashing everybody forgot about doing an old fashioned picture VS picture of HD quality video against regular quality.
So here it is:
The first is in the XVID format and equates to one cd (>~700mb), the second is standard DVD (576p) the third is 720p HD-DVD and the fourth is 1080p HD-DVD.
As you can see there is a notable improvement with the HD-DVD versions of it, though you’d be hard pressed to find much of a difference between 720p and 1080p.
Heck, when you sit back to enjoy a movie you really won’t notice the slight blur they may have, it’s in full motion making it difficult to focus on any one part of the screen to tell the difference.
Free cupcake to whoever can guess the movie (the answer is in the fine print though, which kind of sucks).

Kudos on the awesome comparison. But I see a world of difference between 720 and 1080 in stills. I would guess it would be a lot harder during playback.
