iPhone to be announced this Monday?
December 16th 2006 14:08
The iPhone is a hybrid of an iPod and mobile phone, sticking true to Apple’s iPod philosophy it uses older but more stable tech. For instance rather than 3G it is rumoured to be using 2.5G so the component sizes are smaller and the system will be more efficient.
Unlike other newer mobile phones in my opinion the iPhone should NOT have a camera, if it does it will not be inline with Apple’s marketing style for the iPod where simplicity and music rocks.
To that end it shouldn’t have any movable parts (it shouldn’t be a flip or sliding phone), it should have a scroll wheel somewhere in there and of course it should be white, all white. I dunno how apple will do it, but they better do it like they have for so many years, and unlike the mock-ups that have been all over the net thus far.
“The production ramp has already begun” in small quantities for an Apple slim phone to be available for sale late in the first quarter of next year, or early in the second quarter...” says Prudential’s* Jesse Tortora.
The plan is as, Jesse says, is to release the iPhone late 2006 or early 2007, odds are it will be soon, very soon, just before Christmas, to drive people nuts for it. Well that's my guess, Christmas 2006, the week leading up to it, shops will be packed, people will be shopping with the iPhone in mind, they’ll sell out in a day. I believe they’ll have six to seven million iPhone’s in stock throughout the world, but more likely the initial sales shipment won’t leave the US borders.
Expect eBay to be full of iPhone auctions for six days leading up to Christmas since we all know there probably won’t be any at retail stores after the first three hours of it going on sale.
That's my optimistic prediction anyway.
So when can we *realistically* get our hands on the iPhone? Well we could very well expect it early 2007, or at least find it in enough quantities that we won’t have to campout to get one. Needless to say if Apple is looking to shake the market I believe they’ll announce and release it this coming Monday.
Please note most predictions/assumptions made in this article are simply that, there is no real news besides rumours and a patent of the iPhone's very existence.

Well I'll be damned, mondays the day then?
