Misinformation on the Internets? NO!
January 25th 2007 16:22
Well yes, lots of yeses here, the internet is full of misinformation, often times deliberate misinformation.
It isn’t like that though, not always, sometimes it can give you an exact 360 degree spin on it all.
Fair and Balanced Fox News did a segment on Senator Obama, claiming he was Muslim, that he went to a Madrassa (ironically that is simply Arabic for School) in Indonesia (where Madrassa is apparently some sort of terrorist training camp for kids), and that he was raised by his extremist Muslim father.
After this was let out CNN completely debunked it all completely humiliating Fox News and pointing out the obvious. While Fox News might be pretty screwy at times, it really out did itself this time, turns out Senator Obama had only recently met his father, an Athiest, and was raised not by Muslims, but by Christians, to this day he is a devout Christian, he has been a member of a church since 1998 and he has never attended a ‘Madrassa’.
Obama also had one or two things to say about the Fox News report.
Did Fox News learn and cower in a little hole for a bit with its conservative sex buds? Well no, John Gibson, a Fox News anchor, STILL went out on a radio show and spout out nonsense about Obama being an extremist terrorist Muslim out to kill everyone. Heres his wonderful little exchange:
Now I know this is preaching to the converted, but when will conservatives learn that they are a bunch of scared, delusional, psychopathic, racist idiots? Clearly this is showing of how afraid they are, after the Keith Ellison incident no man is safe, no liberal man that is, they are all Muslim terrorists.
So what does this have to do with truth and falsity on the internet? Well simply put, all the links provided to you are courtesy the internet, if you were a couch potato still watching Fox News (for some sick twisted reason) you wouldn’t know what the hell was going on. But if you got out there just a little bit and went searching for the truth yourself you would come to a different conclusion.
Conservatives are known for their open lies that stir controversy, they thrive off of the ignorance of people who don’t know any better, so it is no wonder they are trying to regulate the internet, it is a threat to the one thing that keeps them from the endangered species list: Ignorance.
Oh and one thing that really annoys me about what Gibson says, Muslims memorise the Quran, it is pretty much a dream for most Muslims to memorise the entire book, is it so bad that we do that?

GIBSON [W]hat did they see when they went to the madrassa where Barack Obama went to school?
HOST: Kids playing volleyball.
GIBSON: Playing volleyball, right. They didn’t see them in any terrorist training camps?
HOST: No.
GIBSON: No. Um, but they probably didn’t show them in their little lessons where they’re bobbing their heads and memorizing the Koran.
HOST: I didn’t see any tape of that, no.

Ahmed, I do think it is a little closed-minded to tar all conservatives with the same brush. Like anything, there are degrees of conservatism - it's just that usually the most vocal are also the most radical.
