NEC getting serious in Australia
December 3rd 2006 01:15
When I first laid eyes on the press release I thought ‘meh’, not another silly self righteous, and above all, boring, corporate related news, will someone please thing about the technology!?
However there is some positively interesting news to be had from ‘NEC Business Solutions Ltd.’ integrating into ‘NEC Australia Pty. Ltd’. Not so much something good will happen because of this (though it will) but more so it is positive news for why NEC is taking such steps.
The reason NEC is doing this is due to rapid changes occurring in Australia’s ICT market, particularly the growth of broadband, IP telephony and wireless communications.
Rapid changes? NEC thinks there are rapid changes going on? This was very pleasing news to read since put quite frankly ever since Richard Alston’s term as communications minister Australia has been trailing in the field of communications. Yes, that is another way of saying we’ve been deprived of good internet connections.
This news indicates that things are changing (about time too), as big businesses are putting more and more effort in this country.
Of course there is good news to be had of NEC’s recent moves besides the fact they are happening. Development in communication technologies will increase as NEC looks into new ways of solving age old problems (about time, with no thanks to Richard Alston), competition will increase and other companies will setup shop in Australia too.
With any luck we’ll have the internet of yesterday today, and have today’s internet in time for tomorrow.
