What is censorship exactly? From Wikipedia: Censorship is the removal or withholding of information from the public by a controlling group or body. What is intellectual property? Again: In law, intellectual property (IP) is an umbrella term for various legal entitlements which attach to certain names, written and recorded media, and inventions.

So long as were letting people show a certain sequence of numbers are we not saying just as well lets all just use leaked source code, let peoples handwork fall into nothingness as we copy and paste it against their permision? Whats the god damned point of intellectual property? It's to protect peoples property that doesn't have a physical existence (such as a story or in this case a certain number that makes encryption), no matter how much you hate that person you cannot and should not have a right to take away his property.

So get over it, what did you, people who actually use Digg do to this awesome service? What good came of it?

Digg All HD-DVD Key
Wow, nice work, like how Nero burned down Rome

Who owns Digg? No one, at least in principle, yet who owns Digg really? Who is going to suffer most from this immature behavior? The Digg team, thats who, why doesn't everyone who post the number in question also put up their name and address? If you are oh so noble then I'm sure it would be nice of you to put up your details so the Digg team can just redirect lawsuits at you.

Theres nothing noble or brave about what is happening, it's purely cowardice, people who want freedom which they are too afraid to fight for so they latch onto the back of others and expect them to fight some sort of legal battle on their behalf.

If you want to fight the power by all means, just don't try piggy backing on a service provided and maintained by someone else, it's like saying you'll get your older sister when you're bullied because you're too cowardly to stand up for yourself.

viva la fucking morons hijacking Digg '07.

Blogging for most is about finding interesting news in and around the web, bringing it back to your blog, posting your opinion on it and linking to the article. Of course you can add a spin on it but there is a limit where you take a story out of context, warp it to your own views then claim innocence when someone actually reads the article. Thats what conservatives (bloggers?) do, and thats what this one did.

Linking to an article and claiming it is what (in a satirical manner) is tarnishing the image of Islam, apparently implying thats what the article he is linking to is trying to get across. Of course he claims he didn't write it hence claims all immunity, perhaps I'll link to an article about dandy lions being the reason for AIDS when it's only about dandy lions causing allergies then claim innocence that I'm just the messenger, of course thats another story entirely.

The article has nothing to do with politics as he desperately is trying to spin it, this is actually a problem with tribalism and culture mixing too deeply into Islam, it's quite a common problem for all religions (Christianity has changed quite considerably to accommodate pagan faith) but Islam gets the hardest whacked for it when some random dude circumcises his daughter - not acceptable in Islam but some folks take such stories as fact that over a billion people believe.

Now, a rational look at the article:

The conference "aims to expose erroneous ideas, correct misunderstandings and raise awareness about the (dangers) of sorcery and charlatanism," Kaabi said, warning that "charlatans seek to defraud the naive and superstitious."

So where is it that the conference is trying to end all misconceptions against Muslims? The conference is about Muslims who have misconceptions about their own faith due to their culturally and perhaps politically broken upbringings, while I don't know how credible the conference will be and if it has any political overtone of itself it still has nothing to do with what the 'messenger' claims.

The herbal remedy predates Islam and has been administered in the Middle East since the time of the Egyptian pharaohs. The Prophet Mohammed is said to have declared that "black cumin heals every disease except for death."

Heh, no he never said that, it isn't in Hadeeth (or at least not in the Hadeeths that are known to be accurate and not made up/corrupted). If a Muslim believes that then he/she is mistaken.

Many Muslims believe the Koran can cure illness. The most common treatment consists of drinking water with pieces of paper bearing Koranic verses dissolved in it.

Yep, thats true many do believe that, but that belief is completely inaccurate, God himself has said that faith while involving belief only involves that because it is based on grounded hard facts. Which is to say that there are no miracle cures and Islam is very much against such things, in fact it is regarded as a deadly sin to claim that the Quran can cure people or anything like that, Islam eradicated magic, astrology and superstitions and made all those sin (some people might interpret that as culture destroying though in all honesty making it illegal to claim to have magical powers and earn money from it is something I absolutely approve of).

In December 2006, a top Malaysian university published a report claiming that the postures used during Muslim prayers benefit the heart and spine, while increasing the capacity for memory and attention.

Why am I not surprised it was a *Malaysian* university, I dislike the idea of designating but Malaysian culture really does intrude with proper Islamic teachings significantly which is what creates their misconceptions behind Islam. Malaysian culture is just too spiritual which is why Muslims brought up in Malaysia tend to have these fantastic ideas, obviously they shouldn't, Islam is a solid religion based on facts, not such 'miracles' and looking for such things is what causes problems to begin with, as you can see they are making a conference to address these issues.

Abdullah, who champions a moderate form of Islam called Islam Hadhari, has been encouraging Muslims worldwide to give equal importance to education, science, technology and development alongside the spiritual aspects of the religion.

Adbullah is the product of a people who are mistaking radical politics in the Middle East as the kind of Islam that was created 1400 years ago which needs to be updated. Islamically it is heavily recommenced that you get a good education, learning about the world around you, including technology and all that is an integral part of your faith. The spiritual aspect of Islam (if you would like to call it that) is so deeply interwoven with science (read: facts) you could say it's the same thing. The line gets blurred between the two all the time, you can say they are the same thing, even Mohammed said that it should be every Muslims duty to get an education (not his words) because God created the earth for us to live in it and make the most of it.

To answer the question of what is soiling the image of Islam, the same thing that soiled the image of Judaism back in the Nazi days, a (very) few assholes claiming to be of the religion join 'struggles' in the 'name' of the religion and kill innocent people, a few people who always had this hatred of this religious group use the few assholes as a brush to tar the entire faith as such.

Guess what? Jews in communist parties killed 20 million people in Europe, but I doubt any Jew will accept those communist party members as part of their faith, just the same you won't find many (if any) Muslims who accept murderurs as part of their faith and neither will they accept these people are acting in accordance ot their faith.

But hey, if a conservative wants to say he/she knows more abotu my religion than me and that I should be this murduring nut bag then he/she really needs to get a life, take some much needed self evaluation and stop with the undue hate.

He/she should also stop blogging, Shelley the Republican pretty much sums you all up

Nah just kidding, everyone has a right to express their views (no matter how dumb), even if their views (looks at certain *conservative* bloggers) involve deporting people they disagree with.
