I remember way back in highschool we were once asked to give an oral presentation on a specific subject matter. Being the asshole I was I wanted to do something rather unconventional.. now of course to do something 'unconventional' you have to find something which is conventional. Back then (and still today) I was a fan of political humour but observed all political humour seems to be 'liberally biased'. I set out to give a conservative stand up routine, if there ever was such a thing.

Being the centrist I am I have a firm belief liberals don't have a monopoly on humour (even if they are so damn good at it) however conservatives are just too boring and serious to crack jokes. So I sit down and scribble away coming up with ideas for conservative flavoured jokes and explanations for why there is not a fool who sits on the right side of the fence game enough to say the jokes. It was titled "Homosexuals Are Repressed Hetrosexuals - If Conservatives Were Funny They'd Be Me".

Perhaps I didn't try enough hard on the humour or just couldn't be stuffed or whatever I ended up rewriting most of it to answer the question of why conservatives aren't funny, I did however keep the title which I quite liked.

So why aren't conservatives funny? Buggered all if I know, but maybe it has something to do with how tight arsed they are.

For the record I never did give the speach, I backed out and did a generic one. As gutsy as I was I figured I didn't want to get in trouble over an assignment like this. Still, I wish I had a copy of what I wrote. Maybe one day I'll try to re-write it, if I ever get the chance.

So what does this have with the week? I really dunno, I'm just tired and wa

So I may as well start doing these things proper again. But before I do it 'proper' I'd just like to show some of the funniest YouTube videos I've seen in a while (well since Chad Vader anyway).

How to Survive an Alien Attack

The Glitch

...and thats all folks, sorry, no time to rant and rave about the past seven(ish) days as I would oh so like. Got lots of work to do, and by work I mean saving the planet from a bunch of unstoppable alien fungi.

Gordon Freeman is Me

But before I do go I would just like to express my boundless anger at a certain company for issuing take downs of Family Guy and The Simpsons from YouTube. To great pains it has driven me yet it has not forced me to start watching the show on TV, nor has it stopped me from downloading them from the internets. Maybe if they added a bunch of ads to them and put them up free on their own websites it would be a nice deal, but alas, they are MORONS.

I finally have learned sympathy for tech writers, the real deal full blown tech writers. Also I have learned to envy them even more.

Why? Because for a day and a half I was one of them, no, I was one of the best of them, I came out of nowhere and for that day and a half I was (probably) the number one tech writer in Australia.

I learned that pictures speak louder than words, so much louder that spelling things out in the English language can take a back seat for what someone might want to think.

Ok, I made it to the frontpage on Digg.com with an experimental blog which had an experimental article that came up with some real results. That’s four thousand hits folks, four thousand hits before my article was buried from the front page, a product of its own lacking.

You all probably wonder how many adcents I made, well, you’ll all be pleased to know, I made 21 adcents and they didn’t at all come from the 4000 hit article, why? Because Google decided it didn’t want to show ads there, as such public service announcements were ever present.

All over the internets people beat me down for my obvious ‘bias’ in my article, either that or my ‘incompetence’ (which I admit probably was part of the problem). But dear me, I don’t have a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 (a problem soon to be rectified) I’m just a regular kid. I just had a brainwave people would want to see still shot side-by-side screenshots from two versions of one game, that was what I set out to do.

If I had an Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 believe you me I would have done it right, but I don’t. I’m not a professional tech writer, I’m just some kid who had an idea that a few people really liked.

I wouldn’t mind it so much, I mean if those god damn google ads ACTUALLY SHOWED I would have made a couple of bucks out of it (ok, about fifty bucks to be exact) and I would think to myself that at least it was somewhat worth it.

But I didn’t make a cent, wel I made 21 cents, but not even from that article, and for my troubles I have been labelled and flamed like all tech writers but unlike all tech writers I didn’t make a single cent for my troubles.

I’d really like that hug now…

I’ve had a terrible week, terrible in every way, a not so fun time on Orble, this is partly due to what seems like lack lustre reading material and a particular blog post that has turned into a particularly annoying IM-esque conversation despite my best attempts to turn it into a flame war. Haven't had much of a fun time at university and I sure as hell got no uni work done at all this week… almost anyway, I’m fairly far behind where I want to be and am pretty disappointed with myself as such.

Some other things include being pushed around by a paranoid delusional maniac and his friend who have been claiming I am multiple people on a single online forum. Believe you me that is more frustrating than anyone can imagine, being accused of having multiple accounts one of whom is a respected figure and another being the exact opposite in an online community, also, I haven’t been updating techy.Bytes as much as I should be. I’m still not sure that’s because there is nothing interesting to update with or that I have no desire to do so

Well it has been EONS since the last Speak of the Week, damn it, these things are supposed to be a weekly thing, I had completely forgot about it.

So here I go with politics, the politics of war, blog war to be exact, watch as I foolishly try to get into a blog war with Orbles most beloved member (other than yours truly), Cibbuano

Speak of the Week #3

January 21st 2007 17:01
Lets keep it all relative here folks, the number one threat to the US of A is not WMD’s as George Bush would like us to think, nor would it be automobiles, but automobiles are more dangerous than terrorist attacks, that much is confirmed.

Speak of the Week #2

January 15th 2007 06:00
It was eight days since the last one which is made on the Sunday of Australia, this next one is coming and it is the Sunday of other parts of the globe so technically this isn’t a delay, simply an adjustment. I’ll be alternating from here on in I guess...

So the biggest thing that happened in the last week for the blogosphere would have to be the introduction of Blogg-Buzz. Essentially a Digg.com equivalent for blogs and nothing but blogs it should help out given the amount of cracking down Digg has been doing on its democratic dictatorship in which it has blocked out URLs that correspond to blogs written by, say, one person and/or not affiliated with any major news distributing chain. So much for giving the user the right to choose what they like and what they don’t
