Cross Oxford with the Bronx and you get ‘Urban Dictionary’.
Urban Dictionary (UD) is essentially a dictionary containing user defined words derived from street slang, words like ‘slapper’ or ‘Techokillologie’ can all be found on UD.
There are multiple user written definitions for most words. Words defined can be given a thumbs up or down, the more thumbs up they have the higher they will be placed, the definition judged as the best by readers is always the first description for any given word.
When you’re a geek like me and don’t understand 99% of street slang you hear you’ll find UD to be invaluable.
That said the amount of words you find with sexual innuendos, or more commonly, actual direct sexual meanings is somewhat disturbing, but as always, sex sells.
I love it, it gives the definition of ‘techy’ “1. Possessing amazing cleverness or coolness.” Woohoo, I’ve got ‘street cred’.
