Can't Ever Have Enough

October 30th 2007 18:59
I have three ps3s playstation 3 stacked up
You just gotta love YouTube and the occasional video responses that are actually funny. In this case a production by one of those backyard studios involving an owner with three Playstation 3s was answered by some kid with 4 Playstation 3s. It's funnier than I'm making it sound because I'm dull and drab, so take a look for yourselves,

I Have 3 PS3's

I Have 4 PS3's

Bring on 'I Have 5 PS3's'! This could be the start of something awesome.

It's pretty odd, you control a shadow puppet who has two personalities, two ways in which he percieves the world and a set of abilities for each personality, and you have to make your way through a world, alternating between personalities as you need the skills of each.

Stranglehold Video Walkthrough

Action movie with no emotional depth, this could be the first game ever to actually mimic the movie in interactive form.

Motion Capture in Games

March 7th 2007 14:01
While a lot of the stuff being said here is hog wash, such as ‘up until the Playstation 3 we’ve not been able to display characters realistically’, which is not true. Characters have been displayed realistically for quite some time now.

If were talking about their emotions, I’d say it goes back to the Super Nintendo with games like ‘Chrono Trigger’ even if primitively. If they mean motion captured facial animations then yes, it probably hasn’t been done much, however this is not an evolution so much so it’s an increment

Best Picture, or Best Game?

March 1st 2007 13:12
As technology keeps progressing in games more and more it seems like they are not only reaching the level of depth and interaction of movies but are basically surpassing it. Now with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 developers are focusing on more than simple graphical effects to immerse the player in a game but are actually pushing the production level up high to immerse the player in the game emotionally. To develop a bond with characters (be it comical, emotional or the much loved personal).

Take ‘Brothers in Arms’, it started last generation where it tried to make things all emotional. It tried, passed and failed in different aspects. Now with this new generation it seems not only the new Brothers in Arms will be including that all important holy grail known as psychological depth but many more games shall be as well

Wii, The Solution to Fat Kids

February 20th 2007 16:09
Kids swinging the Wii-Mote around burn 40% more calories than their lesser fortunate none-Wii owning friends who hold a regular controller, this extra 40% amounts to about an average of 1,830 calories a week.

I was a bit shocked, just 40% more? Kids need to play more physical Wii games such as Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

Nintendo Taunting the Contest

January 23rd 2007 11:25
This was a pretty funny segment on Nintendo Power about Sega and Sony trying to get the heads up on Nintendo’s Triple-A title ‘Star Fox’. While Nintendo might not have dominated that console generation, or the subsequent one with the terrible GameCube, Nintendo really did a good job with first class titles, the greatest game of all time (as voted by the people) came out on the Nintendo 64, ‘Zelda: Ocarina of Time’.

Nintendo learned a lot from this show, it learned that secret’s should be kept secret, after the rumble pack was revealed it was promptly copied by Sony. Well at least Nintendo left the wii-remote secret until the very last minute, so Sony could not do a full blown copy, instead it just put in a half arsed tilt function in the Playstation 3 controller, not enough time for all the finer points of the Wii Remote

Zombii Mii and Ninety Nine Others

January 5th 2007 05:55
Pardon the pun, I didn’t come up with it, some other guy did... no really!

This is an excellent demonstration of the Wii’s ‘Mii’ creator’s flexibility as this guy demonstrated different Mii’s from ‘Zombii’ to ‘Saddam Hussein’ to ‘Han Solo
