What Happens When a New Ubuntu is Released?

*Note: No I'm not going to be professing my love for open source and the following it by 'except I just wish... yadayadayada'. I don't 'love' open source, I like it, but it isn't something I'm going to die for. Let it be known I'll criticize it (or the community behind it in this case) with no remorse and no apologising.
So, what happens when a new Ubuntu is released? You get blogs, websites, magazines and various other media proclaiming such things as 'A Vista Killer at last - new Ubuntu!' or 'Ubuntu is now finally out of the woods and ready to compete with Windows!' amongst other things.
Sometimes it looks like theres more time spent attacking Microsoft (and to a lesser extent Apple) than talking about the new features of the software when it's released. I guess when there isn't much to show all one can do is talk, and doesn't the Open Source community talk a shit load?
Lets take a deep breath and calm down.
Stop kidding yourselves you idiots.
Ubuntu isn't going to replace Windows, give any reason for it if it makes you feel better but it won't change the fact.
Get a life.
