AMD has congratulated Nintendo on a successful launch of the Nintendo Wii... huh? Since when did AMD have anything to do with Nintendo?
I mean... Well... last I checked the CPU was developed and manufactured by IBM and the GPU by ATI... OH! That’s right, AMD bought out ATI... figures.
Nintendo Wii’s GPU codenamed ‘Hollywood’ was developed by ATI, but since ATI was bought out by AMD it is now an AMD GPU.
Does that bother em? Intrigue me? Erm, not really, just upsets me that AMD has all but phased out ATI’s name. I was kind of hoping for the new name to be AMDATI, that would have sounded much cooler, but alas, it was not a merger but a buy out.
