Working Hard or Hardly Working?

I've been diligently working on my lil 'ol project from way back and I'm pleased to report that I've made progress.
Progress within the context of it supports some pretty advanced physics via an open source engine (woo, I made it happen!) though it is yet to be fully implemented what I have now is still pretty darn awesome.
Besides that? Well I've been trying to make animations work for like a full damn week and only today have gotten somewhere, and by somewhere I mean four or five hours of coding which will turn out to be all wrong when I'm done anyway.
